DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Takes leadership for Strategic Sourcing initiatives for both SW and HW products. Directs manufacturing operations with regard to contract manufacturing/supplier relationships, process implementation and improvement, quality management, design for manufacturing, and problem resolution for Hardware and Software based products.

o Responsible for managing the RFQ process for Strategic Sourcing of Hardware and Software products
o Works with Hardware Engineering, Marketing and Strategic Sourcing Manager to establish requirements and milestones for new products
o Manage supplier selection and business awards
o Negotiates Manufacturing Services Agreements and distribution agreements with Suppliers
o Responsible for insuring that third party manufacturing vendors meet production forecasts and requirements for worldwide fulfillment centers. Insures that vendors provide highest possible service levels and cost efficiencies
o Responsible for issuing Purchase Orders to Suppliers and approving invoices from suppliers
o Demonstrated skills in materials and logistics management with particular emphasis in supplier relationships, sourcing and cost reduction, performance metrics, and managing a cyclical production schedule.
o Responsible for managing suppliers on a daily basis so as to meet forecast and customer shipment requirements
o Drive company-wide programs that improve supply chain performance and/or reduce supply chain costs
o Develop and manage strategic sourcing, commodity, and supplier strategies
o Manage supplier performance through appropriate measures, reviews, and corrective actions
o Drive selected senior staff initiatives (e.g. cost reduction, cost reduction, cost reduction)
o A heavy emphasis will be placed on driving customer satisfaction improvements, major cost reductions, order-to-delivery cycle time improvements, delivery quality, and inventory reductions.
o Take the lead in assisting in the research, development, and implementation of solutions to supply issues.
o Work with Master Production Scheduling to insure updated unit sales forecasts are communicated to manufacturing vendors in a timely manner in accordance with manufacturing lead times.
o Develop plans and policies leading to improved vendor performance. Prepare/monitor vendor operating and product cost budgets. Insure vendor manufacturing charges comply with contracts and product budgets.
o Initiate, manage and drive Quarterly Business Reviews with Supplier(s)
o Maintain close contact with Product Development teams.
o Develops metrics to define and measure key performance indicators and reports on a monthly basis. Generate vendor performance reports and provides feedback to vendors on a monthly basis. Develops formal action plans with vendors to improve required performance areas. Regularly evaluate quality and performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection. Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or contractually complex new products parts design using the suppliers’ expertise to optimize quality and producibility.
Constantly seeks ways to improve group effectiveness and efficiency.

• Strong experience in supplier management, including external manufacturers
• Likely successful candidate will have 10-15 years of Operations experience with progressive responsibilities in Supply Management
• Five to ten years of direct supply chain, purchasing, and materials management/planning experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Undergraduate degree is a must, preferably in a technical field.
• Graduate degree highly preferred.
