PopCap is known for producing a wide array of industry-leading games, including Bejeweled, Zuma and Bookworm. PopCap Games is looking for an experienced Art Manager to manage the growing art needs for our game development Studio. The Art Manager will be able to lead and motivate our extremely talented group of artists to do their best work. The ideal candidate will appreciate the PopCap style and the high quality our games are known for, and will continue that tradition by designing unique and compelling visual styles for our future titles. The Art Manager will work closely with each game’s producer and/or designer to help them fully realize their vision for their game, and will need to be flexible enough to work with a large variety of art styles spanning different game genres.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing studio art team, including hiring, goal setting, performance reviews, and finding contract artists to suit project needs
• Supervise workflow of internal and external artists, and provide guidance, inspiration and mentoring as needed
• Fill in as lead artist on projects when appropriate
• Manage the studio’s ongoing art needs for all platforms, including PC, Mac, consoles, mobile, and others
• Work closely with producers and developers to ensure the art needs of each project are met in a timely manner
• Oversee the work of the artists across multiple projects simultaneously to ensure it meets PopCap standard of high quality art
• Schedule resources and ensure art assets are organized and tracked
• Work with stakeholders in the rest of the company to ensure proper representation of game assets in marketing materials, website, etc.

Required Skills and Abilities:
• 2-5 years of prior experience managing artist
• Ability to provide clear constructive feedback to artists on their work
• Capable of translating and communicating feedback from producers and developers to artists when needed
• Strong graphic design skills, including logo treatments, color and font choices, screen layout, etc.
• Wide range of experience in all areas of game art, including creation of backgrounds, characters, game objects, user interface, animation, creation of 3D objects, particle effects, etc.
• Good understanding of the casual game production process
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects and 3D software packages
• Strong communication and writing skills, with experience communicating both creative and technical feedback
• Strong organizational skills
• Must have a passion for games!

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or related experiences
