Help for poor Irish man

Postby ulic3190 » Apr 11, 2004 @ 2:32pm

Hello all, I was hoping that someone could help me.

(BTW I have a p900 smartphone)

Basically I bought simon the sorcerer (its the win talkie version) and have ripped the simon.wav to mp3.

I still dont have a 128MB card yet so even though the mp3 is a quarter of the size of the original I still cant play it.

Is there away to get the text to display on the screen so that I can play it ??

It was actually a good deal I got Simon 1, Simon 2, The Feeble Files, Simon Puzzle Pack and Simon Pinball for only 7 euros.

I know that in Simon 2 you can press t to switch text and voice modes but I dont want to play the second first as I have never played either of them.

And dont want to put the cart before the horse.

Thanks in advance everyone

it should switch automatically to text mode if the voice file is not present (although I didn't test it)

Ulic3190:

Have you by any chance read the Manual that heads this thread? First, if you are trying to use all the Sorcerer 1 files you've listed then you are using unnecessary space. Second, if you read the information given for Sorcerer 1 & 2, you will find that there no text option for Sorcerer 1.

Sir david I did read the faq that you made and did notice that simon 1 didnt have the text option.

But as ever I just wanted to be sure and you never know if somebody else has a way around it.

If by saying the following I am in any way being illegal then I am sorry it is not my intention.

Since I have a full version of Simon the Sorcerer would it be alright to request the files that CAN give me the txt for the game ?

I am guessing that there must be a way to do that and seeing as I have the full game on cd that maybe all I would need is one file just to have the text in game ??

I cant believe that it is possible to play these games on your PHONE but man what a FABULOUS kick it is and so much better than interstellar flames and gaya and all the other new and ridiculous games for your phone.

I've known to be wrong before, but when I did the Sorcerer 1 research I came across a reviewer's comment that confirmed (to me at least) that the text option had been left out of Sorcerer 1 for reasons unknown, but that it was returned to Sorcerer 2 after complaints from Sorcerer 1 players. The upshot is, as far as I know, there is no Sorcerer 1 text file in existence.

In that case Sir Dave thanks for your time and for putting my mind at rest.

Seems like I will just have to wait for the memory card then.

Can I run PocketScumm on a 32Mb RAM, 203Mhz Pocket PC, such as the HP h1935? Is it playable or should I get a stronger PPC? What's most important, Speed or Free memory? Should I get a 128 or 256Mb SD card?

Thanks!

Many games will be playable on this device. You may have some problems with the most recent games (The Dig, Full Throttle, Broken Sword 2) because they require more memory than older games, but if you don't mind turning off the sound or forgetting the videos it should be OK.

As for your SD card, 128 Mb will be more than enough for one old game, but may be too small for recent games (you'll need a ~ 512 Mb card to play The Dig or Broken Sword 2 will sound, music and videos).

Hmm, I have the new C500 running Moblie 2003. I installed the pocketscumm exe to my program files directory (under storage rather than on the sd card as i was out of room). When i try to execute the exe, nothing happens. I'm curious to know if this is because it isn't yet working on the spv c500 or because i havent installed it to the sd card or maybe for some other reason entirely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, could someone who has the english version of Curse of Monkey Island (Monkey Island 3) contact me over ICQ#: 121759480 or E-Mail: danielviebrock@web.de . I just only have the german version of this game, but I really want to play it with english language or at least the english subtextes. I hope someone could send me the files, I'll share the german language/subtextes :).
