GapiDraw test files

GapiDraw test files

Postby Johan » Mar 21, 2002 @ 9:15am

Hi,

Before putting it all on the web, I'm just curious on how many people:

(1) Use VS.NET
(2) Have the latest MSVC 7.0 runtime installed
(3) Can run GapiDraw :)

If you have the time, could you please try and run the files in the following package:
http://www.gapitools.com/gdtestfiles.zip

It contains two executable (MFC-based) files. One running in window mode (debug build), and one running in full screen mode (release build). The only difference between the two programs is that the release version call OpenDisplay with the "FULLSCREEN" option. Please note that GapiDraw itself does not use MFC, and is a pure C++ DLL.

If you cannot get the files to run, I collected all MSVC/MFC files I could find in my Windows folder here:
http://www.gapitools.com/mfc.zip
If it asks for a file, could you please note what file it asks for. And for what version of the demo (debug or release). You should copy the file to your Windows\System32 folder if you miss it.

All files have been virus scanned with the latest Norton AV.

So.. What is your general opinion? Should I re-install VS6 and recompile. Or should I expect everyone to soon have the latest MSVC 7 runtimes on their computers?

Does anyone know if Microsoft has a "MSVC7 runtime installer" available for download?

Best regards,
Johan

PS. YES. You can stretch the window. YES. it is supposed to suspend when it is out of focus. YES. it does support correct coordinate mappings, even when the window is stretched. :D DS.

Concidering VS.NET just came out a couple months ago I wouldn't assume people would have the 7.0 libs for another year and even then...

I don't currently own VS.NET and don't plan to purchase it in the near future personally. I'd recommend releasing in VS 6.0 format because it's compatible with both.

Here's the list of DLLs it asked for:
Release
- mfc70.dll
- msvcr70.dll
Debug
- mfc70d.dll
- msvcr70d.dll

Look forward to using GapiDraw =)

I ran it. It worked fine, after I copied the dlls it asked for. (mfc70.dll and msvcr70.dll for the release version, mfc70d.dll and msvcr70d.dll for the debug build).

Nonetheless, I agree with Hoser that you should release a VC6 version. I'm sure VC7 can work with VC6 libs, but I'm not entirely sure that VC7 libs would work with VC6 (They probably would, but stranger things have happened, and this is Microsoft we are dealing with). I could be wrong, though.

:) Guess I also agree.. But it would take me too long to get a hold of VC6, so I'll release the VC7 version tonight and hope it works out ok.

Oh. I also have ARM, MIPS and SH3 versions compiled by the way.
