Unfortunately it's not as simple as it may sound. If your desktop is running at 24-bit color, video surfaces has to be in 24-bit color as well to be fully accelerated. GapiDraw however only works with 16-bit surfaces due to optimizations. If GapiDraw would support all color depths (16, 24 and 32), performance in 16-bit color mode would be compromised.

I will look into this and see if a solution could be worked out easily.

Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, but my feeling is that GapiDraw is for the PocketPC first and the desktop second. Anything that makes development on the ppc easier/more reliable/faster is a step in the right direction. Anything that hinders development for that platform is a step in the wrong direction. In any case Johan, your efforts on GapiDraw are greatly appreciated!
