Task Manager question and feature request

Task Manager question and feature request

Postby HobbesAB » Mar 22, 2003 @ 7:44am

I did a search but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for so I'm posting it:

In the task manager, you list CPU time and CPU. What is the exact purpose of each?? I know that the task manager is showing all processes that are currently running, but which one shows CPU utilization and what is the purpose of the other??

For example, in the task manager it shows this:

Image Name/ CPU Time/ CPU
DEXPlor.exe/ 03:59:25/ 06.35
Icbar.exe / 01:11:65/ 03.54

Thanks for the clarification.

Now for the feature request

Here is the feature request:

Can you add a Memory "task manager?" Here's the idea: I would run the Memory Manager and see that I have 25 MB of actual system memory and I can see how that 25 MB is being used. For example, 3 MB of Ram is being used for App A, 2 MB for App B, etc.

The user can then kill the process that is taking up so much RAM and actually free the RAM without soft resetting.

Is this possible??

Essentially, CPU time is overall, and CPU is what it's currently using.
