Letter to PocketPC mag

Letter to PocketPC mag

A letter I just sent to PocketPC Magazine. Pisses me off.

Dear PocketPC Magazine,

I have subscribed to your magazine since June 2001. I usually find it informative. However, your latest buying guide (received on 9/18/02) has me flabbergasted.

You list many programs but have omitted what is, in my opinion, the finest utility program on the market; DEXplor.

http://www.dex-plor.com/

It is very reasonably priced and offers users a great deal of control over file management and the registry. The list of add-ins and custom ability is impressive. And Dan East is extremely responsive to user requests and keeps the program updated quite frequently.

On the 2 occasions when I've had to re-format my pocket PC, DEXplor was the first program I loaded. It is indispensable.

By omitting this excellent program from your list, you have lowered your standards and make me think that your other selections are also suspect.

Sincerely,

AlphaWolf

I wouldn't go ballistic because they omitted a single program. That happens lots of times. DEXplor is, of course, a very good program, I'm a beta tester for it. I use it every day I use my PocketPC, it's a great program. But just because it slipped under their radar doesn't mean they're nazi's trying to direct the market into buying other programs instead.

LOL!

Well, I don't think I accused them of being Nazis or anything like that. Maybe child molesters, but definately not Nazis. :0

But I do think it serves as a reflection of their process when a great program like this slips through their filter. I've seen it mentioned in the mag before, so they have heard of it.

And it makes me wonder what other programs "slipped" through the cracks?

AlphaWolf, thanks for your words of support! I agree that this reflects on how "in touch" Pocket PC magazine is with the Pocket PC scene and community. To their credit, DEXplor is relatively new; it hasn't had its first birthday yet. :) So to a large extent this is the result of slow corporate-machinary.
