Thumbnail support?

Thumbnail support?

Postby Robotbeat » Jan 10, 2003 @ 7:28pm

Another idea (after you add FTP support) would be to have a picture previewer, like with thumbnails and stuff, kind of like how thumbnails are integrated with Windows XP and stuff. You could have an option to switch to big-icon mode--or thumbnail mode--when you go into a directory with pictures. Then, 32x32 thumbnails (user sizeable, like from 15x15 to like 64x64) that you can click on and there'll be a simple image previewer integrated, with support for png, jpg, bmp, gif, tif, and the like. Jpeg support is definetly a good place to start. Just an idear. If you did thumbnails of the pictures, it might be a pretty good idea to have a thumbnail cache, like in WinXP in every folder that you browse that you use thumbnails or whatever. Just a thought...

BBTW, does anyone use the actual nail of their thumb to use their PPC when they can't find their stylus? By the end of my post, the word "thumbnail" was starting to sound really funny to me...

I do use thumbnails a lot in XP, but I do understand that it might be hard to do performance-wise and memory-wise on the PPC... Oh well. Worth a shot.

I think thumbnails should just show up on a small frame on the bottom half of the screen when one taps an image file. Then a single thumbnails wouldn't consume the entire screen real estate and memory wouldn't be overrun with a thumbnail file view.

Of course. We're talking about Dan East here, though! Have you ever checked out DEXplor? EVERYTHING is customizable!

Dan won't be doing anything with DEXplor until Varium is released, though.
