New Apple MP3 uses flash memory. *update*

"News reports have indicated that chipmaker SigmaTel has inked a deal with Apple to provide chipsets for an upcoming MP3 player. The stories note that the player will NOT be a harddrive-based model like the iPod and iPod Mini, rather a flash-based device that will likely be much smaller than the iPod Mini, but with smaller storage capacity. When will we see it? Not long from now:

Citing "numerous sources in Asia," Thomas Weisel analyst Jason Pflaum said Apple will use SigmaTel's controller chips for a player it's planning to launch this Christmas."

Sources have been pointing to a new flash based MP3 player from Apple. With better battery life, smaller form, and less of a pricetag this could be another amazing device from Apple. Read the full story from

Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

Well, I have received news saying that the flash based iPod could be false.

"Hopes that Apple may be preparing a Flash-based iPod appeared to be dashed on Friday when the company's alleged MP3 chip partner announced a deal with Apple portable player rival Rio."

This came as a bit of a shock to all, but there still could be a chance that SigmaTel will suply both Apple and Rio for there devices. This is very unlikely, but hey, it could happen!

Hint: Click on the winking face.

I don't think apple should mess with flash based mp3 players as I don't think they are going to last. The space and size available on them is just too little to be worthwhile. Unless they wanted to use like 1gb sd cards, that would be rather interesting.
