Heat is bad.

How bad tends to depend on the brand of drive, in my experience (if it's an IBM drive I'd personally recommend taking all the data off it and throwing it away .. but then I've watched every IBM HD I've ever bought die). I learnt my "do backups" lesson the hard way.. and now I have a RAID mirror.
