Elements Interactive B.V. releases version 2.40 of its multi-platform mobile game engine Edge. This new version adds support for Pocketmotion's TiltCONTROL devices and several other improvements and fixes.

The TiltCONTROL is a small device that attaches to a Windows Mobile device such as a Pocket PC or Smartphone. The TiltCONTROL is able to detect the precise angle that the mobile device is being held at, and sends this information to the attached Pocket PC or Smartphone.

Portions of the existing TiltCONTROL SDK are integrated into the Edge SDK to enable developers to easily integrate support for TiltCONTROL devices into their games. A stylus and d-pad emulation mode is added to make integration even easier. A new input event is fired ten times a second to report the framework of horizontal and vertical tilting.

The Edge 2.40 release also introduces support for Nokia N70, Nokia N90 and Nokia 92x0 devices and adds the new BltFx function for advanced effects such as variable x/y scaling. Several other improvements and bugfixes are included. A full list of additions and changes can be found on the product website located at http://www.edgelib.com.

An evaluation version can be downloaded for free. Edge licensees are entitled to download and install the commercial version of the new Edge SDK.
