Elements Interactive B.V, Dutch developer of multi-platform game engine EDGELIB, today announced that it is working closely with NVIDIA, worldwide leader in graphics processor technologies. NVIDIA creates innovative, industry-changing products for computing, consumer electronics, and mobile devices.
NVIDIA will bring support of its GoForce® chipset to an the upcoming version of the EDGELIB SDK. The GoForce 5500 GPU, featured in devices like the O2 XDA Flame, is primarily focused on gaming and video encoding/decoding.
Its OpenGL® ES 1.1 interface enables EDGELIB to make use of hardware accelerated power in devices featuring the GoForce chipset. The industry-standard OpenGL ES (Open Graphics Library for Embedded Systems) is a subset of the OpenGL 3D graphics API and is specifically designed for embedded devices. EDGELIB supports OpenGL ES as of version 3.00.
"The addition of support for NVIDIA GoForce brings even more hardware power to EDGELIB," says Danny Hoffman, Elements Interactive CEO. "NVIDIA has kindly provided hardware for testing purposes and is assisting us on technical issues, cutting down our R&D time."
The EDGELIB SDK, with current version 3.10, supports multi-platform development for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Symbian Series 60/80/90, Symbian UIQ, the GP2X console and Windows desktop. Symbian up to version 9.x is fully supported.
Key features of the EDGELIB SDK include true multi-platform development, high-performance graphics, RGBA surfaces, 3D graphics, hardware accelerated OpenGL ES support and both Bluetooth and TCP/IP network connectivity.
