EDGELIB SDK 3.70 released

Elements Interactive B.V. releases version 3.70 of multi-platform mobile game engine EDGELIB adding Linux desktop support to its broad range of supported platforms.

EDGELIB 3.70 introduces Linux desktop support for building and running native Linux applications on X Window System (X11). Linux support in EDGELIB has been tested on the Ubuntu, Xubuntu and Fedora distributions.

Other enhancements in EDGELIB 3.70 include improved performance of the image loaders of more than 25% and a fix for handling the resolution and color depth changing correctly on Windows desktop machines. A new version of EDGELIB Strip Maker tool adds support for images with an alpha channel and the new EDGELIB Builder fixes a couple of minor issues related to Symbian capabilities. Previously announced and scheduled addition of ACCESS Linux Platform™ support is postponed to an undetermined release.

EDGELIB licensees are entitled to download and install the commercial version of the new EDGELIB SDK. An evaluation version can be downloaded for free as well.

EDGELIB supports the development of mobile applications and games for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Symbian Series 60, Series 80, Series 90, Symbian UIQ, GPH GP2X, Gizmondo, Linux desktop and Windows desktop. Key features include true multi-platform development, high-performance 2D graphics, hardware accelerated 3D graphics through OpenGL ES, RGBA surfaces and both Bluetooth and TCP/IP networking.
