okay, looks like 28.4mb of the pak is just sound effects and an amazing 20.3mb is the 'world' fx... i'm pretty sure no-one will miss them so i'll keep important ones like alarms at a reduced rate and just delete the others...

i'll need to play through the demo maps (i'm looking for walkthroughs too) to determine which enemies/texttures/sounds are in which maps and just include stuff specific to the map.

i found a sound program , which i'll try out later.

Paul, why not try just getting rid of everything except the map bsp file, then load the map and it will say it kind find so and so model or this or that texture.

Boy i cant wait to put the full verion uncompressed pak file on my flash.

I forgot that mods were written by replacing gamex86.dll, so this means that no mods will work unless there open source and ported, or will we still be able to use the regular dlls and q2 will know what to do with them?

i have no idea, i just hope that it supports these small paks i'm making.

i made a 'main' pak file with no maps just to get it going and thats 13.7mb gzipped - although i seem to remember dan saying he wont be using gzipped files... its 20mb not gzipped but i still have a few more things to do to it.
