Ok, also important is that you don't run the demos with the console down. I say this for two reasons:
A) We need to establish as best as possible how you run the demos so that the benchmark is valid.
B) When the console is up the framerate is much closer to what it is when you're really playing PQ -- obviously a more useful number.
To do this, bring down the console and use the timedemo command as before, but while the demo is loading tap the console button once. It may not (in fact, almost definitely will not) go away immediately, but when the demo begins it will retract. Of course, you'll need to bring down the console again to see the actual fps result of the timdemo, so tap the console button (again only once) while the next demo in the loop is loading and it will come down as soon as the new demo starts. You should be able to see the result just near the top of the screen, as there won't have been enough status messages to push it up yet. (I can't find a way to scroll the console... if there is one that I don't know about please tell me.)
I'm going to add this update and Matt's post to the original post as well.
Oh, and it's Monday tomorrow (today!) so it's too late to for me to run the tests now, but I'll try to tomorrow.
Thanks all -- I await your results.
