How's it like? Funny you posted this, because a few days ago I decided to try Adderall since I've started college and I pretty much don't pay attention at all in my classes. I haven't gotten around to asking my doc for the prescription yet, though.

From what I understand, Focalin XR (the drug I'm on--XR means extended release) has a more subtle effect than Adderall. It's derived from ritalin, having had parts removed that are believed to cause negative effects.

For me, Focalin has had a few effects. I can sit still for longer periods of time working on something that isn't particullarly interesting. Reading that I'd qualify as difficult (the French philosopher mentioned in another thread) is a lot easier as I don't lose the content of what I'm reading as I read it. Also, it's nice not having to refocus every few paragraphs because my mind has started wandering.

It's also really nice not to have to get dosed up on caffeine and psyched up to get something challenging done.

Negative effects have been limited to midday tiredness.

My suggestion would be to talk to your Doc if you think it's an issue. It'll save you a lot of headache in the long run.

There's the matter of extent. Everyone has their mind wander from time to time.

Also, there's a body of symptoms. Further confusing things is that they overlap with other diagnoses.

Just took 20mg Adderall, and all I feel is drugged up and extremely hyper. Guess I don't have ADD. Nice feeling, though.

Organic chem sucks.
