Rather random day today, was out looking for places to ride my bike with my mates. When we stumble onto a abandoned holiday camp. This place was massive and totally overgrown. It turns out it used to be pontins place, but it close down in the 70's. Its like a time warp, there are all these chalets all overgrown. They all still have there 70's blue floral wallpaper and mustard coloured carpets.
The entire area was like a woodland, its so overgrown, we went around through the trees for a bit and we found the old swimming pool. It was still full of water and rubble and has a couple of ducks living in it. After looking at that for a bit we went round some more and found a huge building which I guess was some kind of dance/eating place. It was a huge building with 70's murals painted on the walls. It also had some funky tiles on the floor.
Here are a few dodgy pictures from my phone.
Swimming pool
The giant dance hall:
Mural and nice orange tiles on the dance hall walls
Off from the main dance hall where these two big freezer rooms.
Blurry shot of one of the chalets, it was all smashed up, most of them where in a bad way.
Another smashed up challet
After doing some googling I found this picture, you can see how the swimming pool used to be back in the 60's and 70's
I also got hold of this sat image of the area, I have marked the pool and the big hall on there. You can see how many challets there are in the place. Its so hard to see everything on the ground, its just solid bushes and trees.
Anyway it was a fun discovery, was really interesting to look around.
