Hey... looking to buy a laptop for when I go to college next year...

Any great deals you know of?

Or just sites with good deals in general, not necessarily laptops?

Or maybe just say something so I know everyone's alive?

Although, I'd wait till January. There's rumors that's when the Intel laptops will be launched.

Go with either Apple or IBM.

I'm disillusioned with cheap laptops. My Compaq X1000 likes to break occasionally (glad I have the warranty) and everyone here has Dells that manage to break down all the time.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."

I have a couple of Dell Inspirons. (3 and 4 years old now...) Once, a hard drive went out on me, but I think that's only because I was running it as a web server for awhile. Otherwise, they're both still great machines, one of which I use to write all of my games on, even though my desktop device has more than 3x the MHz and double the RAM. I guess I just like the native 1400x1050 resolution.

If you go with Dell though, get CompleteCare. It brings the price up near what the competitors charge for their machines, but the warm, fuzzy feeling of security is worth it. :)

Alienware is lame. If you're going to pay for a cool case and supposed performance upgrades, buy a falcon northwest or voodoo pc.
