Car Thread

Postby James S » Jun 11, 2006 @ 7:00pm

I wanted another car thread. Everyone tell us how cool your car is and what cars you think are cool.

Currently drive a 2002 Acura RSX with about 40,000 miles on it. Bought it new in April 2002. I've got Yokohama tires, bluetooth phone integration, foglights, as well as 85 pounds of sound deadening all installed by your's truly. http://home.comcast.net/~sonne/james/Car/

I'm considering moving north soon and want something a little more rough-terrain friendly, so am probably going to move to a Subaru Outback or Impreza.

You can 4wd drift, even fwd, you just have to use different techniques and tinker with the car a bit.

As my midway thru this thread a few years ago hinted at (I even had pics of a white 3000gt  ), here is the car I've been driving for the last 6-7 months.

Its great, in canada, I see maybe one or two other 3000gt's a month, not sure how common they are in the states. Although it seems there have been more showing up here in the last year or so unfortunately. Factoring price, performance, styling/uniqueness, and even practicality, personally I dont think I could have made a better choice, especially concidering the price I got the car at and uniqueness being an important factor for me, as I dident want something every kid and their grandma drives.

Performance wise I can beat most cars that step up to me pushing the car to around 75% with winter tires no less. Although I cant say I've lined up with many of the cars I think would be a good challange or be able to beat me, I have a few times and won each of them so far pushing it under the redline. I like the fact that I dont have race at the higher revs to beat most cars.

My dream car would probably be a 8th gen Galant VR4 or an Evo. Other than those, for my next car these would be my main choices, 2nd gen MR2, 5th/6th gen Celica All trac, mk4 Supra maybe mk3, IS300 or 350, GS350, 1st/2nd gen Eclipse turbo, 3000gt VR4. For a beater car I'd probably get a Matrix/Vibe, I'm also liking the new Camry. That is all.

PS: James, I still cant get over you calling this car old and ugly, surely nobody I've met called my car that yet. :?

Nice car. I have a truck, front wheel drive is best, all wheel drive wastes gas, rear wheel drive is the most fun. :D

I see that new Fast and the Furious movie is out. On one hand, it means that I'll have to tolerate an extra-flamboyant ricer population. But on the other, I'm sure their population will be thinned quite substantially by idiots trying to 'drift'.

Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."
