Many of you into photography at all?

I've had a drebel xt for a year with the kit lens, and looking to get a new lens. Just throwing some feelers out there to see if there are others that have cool cameras.

A friend of mine goes through a lot of lenses for his cameras. I think he's been through a few more since that page was updated. If you have any questions I can pass them on for you. He does freelance photography for one of the Luxembourg newspapers.

I only have a cheap Panasonic Lumix camera but it takes pretty good pictures. Snapped this a few days ago:

The halo around the plants and the bolt is fascinating. And the grain is great. That's a film camera, right? I can't imagine a digital being that capable.

Cool.

I think I'm going to pick up a EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM tomorrow, and maybe look into getting the EF 35mm f/2.0 as a prime later down the road.

I just have the crappy EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM that came my digital rebel xt. The extra focal length will be nice to have, and the IS sounds like a good thing to have.

The 35mm would be good for night shots and such I'm thinking (with it's lower f-stop).

I have a minolta 5D DSLR, with 3 lenses:

the kit lens, 17-80, f3.5-5.6
50mm f1.7 prime
70-210mm F4

I like the fact that 2 lenses, about 5 and 15years old respectively can be image stabilised with this camera, its not as good as optical image stabilisation, but it does the job.

Lately I've been stitching together a few panoramas which is good fun, and there was a special offer on at a digital printer so I got them printed 30" wide for pretty cheap. Heres one I took of my college, had to downsample it to print at 254 dpi, 30" wide!

How many shots did you stitch together to make that?

i've done a bunch of panoramas like that. This photo was originally something like 5 photos together. And, like yours, 30 inches wide. I had to crop a lot because I did this by hand and the photos didn't match up perfectly. Also, this was taken with a crappy point and shoot kodak two years ago, if I did it now it'd look much better.
