is really kicking ass right now. What do you all think of the situation. I'm backing Israel, just as long as they don't intentionally target unnamed civilians.

I believe its fine as long as they bring their information about Hezbola's ties to Lebanon to the UN sometime soon. Just to cover their asses. It's gonna get sticky over there, though.

Sandy, I'm just tired of seeing Israel get pushed around while making concessions for what they hope will bring peace. They're surrounded by enemies who don't give a damn about what treaties are signed and continue to attack them. I say if there's going to be a war there, fine, Israel isn't the one starting it though.

Of course the UN, showing increasingly their anti-semtism is demanding Israel to halt immediately. But are they demanding that Lebanon return the soldiers? Not that I've seen so far.

Yes, Actually they are. The UN Presidency's official response is that Israel's killing of civilians is not good, but the only thing they're actually requesting occur from either side is that Hezbollah return the 3 captured soldiers. The United Arab Emirate (Sp?) brought forward a motion in the UN that simply called for Israel to stop their assault and that their actions should be seen as terroristic actions by a rogue nation. The United States vetoed that motion the minute they brought it forward.

Israel is like the West's little brother. We don't want it to go crazy, but we also want it to be able to handle itself, and we'll stand back and wait incase it needs our help.

I say we just give Palestine nuclear weapons. At best, they each sit on them and never touch each other again for fear of nuclear conflict.

At worst they fire on each other and wipe themselves out. It's a win-win situation.

But what's in between the best and the worst scenarioes?

There are differing reports, makes it hard for people like us to judge what's going on. On report says that Israel is targetting the homes of the guerilla leaders in the suburbs of Beirut, another says that their missiles are going all over the place and not hitting their targets. I just hope that Israel is using a little discression. They possess an extremely technologically advanced military.

The entire issue from Israel's point of view is that they have been telling the Lebanese Democratic government to forcibly stop the guerrilla warriors that reside in the nation (led by Hezbollah) for the last 20 years, and the government has done nothing out of fear that the guerrillas and the civilians backing them would retaliate. Those guerrillas just now crossed into Israel and kidnapped troops. That's just the even that put the last straw on the camel's back. This has been going on for decades. One could argue centuries. Diplomacy isn't going to stop this. The death of radical guerrillas will. Israel has simply had it.

Yes, it's becoming painfully obvious that Israel is waging a war against Hezbollah and his guerrillas, and this just happens to be occuring on "Lebanese" areas. It has nothing to do with Lebanon, except that Lebanon has refused for 20 years to take care of Hezbollah theirselves for fear of entering a civil war.

Just goes to show, there are no real borders or countries in some of the middle east.
