PocketGamer.org feedback request #34,112

You're fed up with it. I'm fed up with it. I'm gonna implement this one no matter what anyone says... muhahahahah!!! :)

OK, I'll play fair and give you a chance to rip it to shreds first:
http://www.pocketgamer.org/test/index.shtml

Please bear in mind that it's not meant to look stunningly beautiful (i.e. a 999 creation), it's the content that's important.

Oh, and if anyone's using Netscape 4.7 (my official test version of NS!), it looks pathetic. NS 4.7 doesn't do borders. Useless browser.

Oh, and I haven't put the stuff that normally goes in right at the bottom yet. I'm lazy. :)

-Mike http://www.pocketgamer.org
I like it, but it's a little too white. Maybe make the right panel more yellow.

It WAS more yellow beforehand, Moose. I think it looks good. Concise.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! It was a conscious decision to try and make it a little less "glaring" than the current colour scheme, but I may yet try out a brighter shade of yellow if there's enough demand.

-Mike http://www.pocketgamer.org
Make where it used to be yellow, green. That'll be cool.

I like the headers which say "Sponsors", "Poll", etc. The "New!"-thing also looks cool - is that background grey? (too lazy to test it) Make it light grey. That would look cool :). I won't say anything about the rest of the layout, because I'm not a great helper cause I like almost anything you did with it, so...

I think the contrast of the green on blue would be nice, or you can make the whole thing green to be puke-ilious. What's wrong puke-ilious?

Thanks, guys! Sorry, Warren, I don't think I'll go down the green route, much as I'd love my site to look puke-ilious... ;)

BTW, the "New" box colour is a sort of light blue/greyish shade... if anyone cares, here's the hex code: F4,F4,FF

The only slight problem is that I haven't yet made it fully PIE-compatible yet, but that should be fairly easy to accomplish.

-Mike http://www.pocketgamer.org

I think you should make the dark blue tv-lines header into the same gradient as on the box captions. Here is a little bit of Photoshop work I made:

Image
[sup]it looks a bit weird around the logo in this version, but yours won't since you won't do it the crappy way I did...[/sup]

An other thing...in IE6 public beta 1 the menus disappear when you hover the text of an item in the menus/menubar.

Fredrik.

Thanks, Fredrik! I'm off to find a copy of IE6 and see what it's done to my menus...

And I'll give your gradient idea a go, too - nice idea! :)

-Mike http://www.pocketgamer.org
