new car!

new car!

Postby Jadam » Oct 17, 2006 @ 4:25am

Sooo ive decided with the money im dumping into my Z... I could finance a car for under 20k and not worry about having any issues with it and get it under warranty...

Cars that I Was looking at new-
Volkswagen Rabbit
Mazda3 sedan
Chevy Covalt SS
Nissan Sentra SE-R VSpec
Honda Civic...

I think ill miss the performance of my Z a LOT though if I were to switch upto one of those cars...
Thats why I was also considering purchasing an 03-05 Subaru WRX Sedan used for around 17-18kish or a used RSX Type S.

What do you guys think?

I love my Z, but jeeez louiz im dumping money into her like crazy.

This is still in the Maybe phase though, because like I said, I love the Z and she is running perfectly right now, but I just know that within the next 3 months im going to have to do my rear brakes( I just had my front brakes redone, new calipers/rotors/pads) And who knows maybe the tranny will give out soon too?(Doubtful though, I dont clutch dump at 4k rpm... Im pretty nice to my tranny)

What's wrong with just getting a car that goes from a to b?
Organic Superlube? Oh, it's great stuff, great stuff. You really have to keep an eye on it, though--it'll try and slide away from you the first chance it gets.

three of the cars he listed just go from a to b.

I, for one, am thinking about buying a Rabbit in a year. The only bummer is the gas mileage. It's pretty low for a car that small.

I like the civic option for cheapness of gas, etc., but yeah, the rabbit looks pretty cool.

A used WRX doesn't sound too bad, though in my opinion they're pretty freaking ugly. I'd still get one. Also, how about a new 2.5RS?

Thats another choice.

Apparently people take STi parts and stuff them into the 2.5RS and make it basically a coupe STi.

Cool looking car, but it would have to be used =[

So are we saying that three of those cars can't go from a to b?

Its not about just going from a to b, its about enjoying going from a to b. I love my car so much I go out of my way to drive it everyday, I dont find it a chore driving around doing errands either because I love driving my car. How much have you put into her jadam, and how many miles she got? I've managed to get by by doing nothing more than the standard maintanance (oil, spark plugs, fluids) so far this year.

And ceasar I think he obviously means that three of those cars are more practical cars, rather than sporty. I personally think all those cars are rather sporty practical cars rather than true performance cars.

Ive put in about a grand so far into my Z, and she has 110k miles now.

The car is running great, but its going to need another $300 for the rear brakes soon by decemeber at least. And who knows what else... New suspension? New Clutch? Tranny rebuild? All are running fine right now, but they could give out anytime since the car is 22 years old and has 110k miles.

Holy crap though the car is so much fun to drive =] I love zooming by people and the handling is amazing, the car has a 49/51 weight distrubtion.

I've seen them on the road; the 80s were a terrible time for cars.

The 80's was all about the DeLorean. I just realized not too long ago how weak the engine acctually was on that car, but still it was a sweet looking car back in the days. True enough, to me the 90's brought out some of, if not the best looking cars. All of the cars I was looking to purchase including my 3000GT began production in the early 90's. But cars from the 80's are not without their charm.

On that note, im also looking into Pontiac GTO 6.0L now...

Can get a nice low mileage 05 for around 22-24k... Car competes with the G35 and gets similiar track times to a WRX STi.
