Well guys, not that any of you will particularly excited by it, but I put together my first dj mixtape sunday, and you should listen to it. I've recently acquired a slew of music/dj epuipment as my friend and I are starting our own dj/remixing dealio. Essentially,

+ + + +

=

The mix is kind of sloppy in the beginning, but it was done in one take with no post-production. Also, I've only had this set up for about a month, so I'm still building confidence and the like. For the tracklist or the ability to be our friends, refer to our .

Hooray. I make music, sorta.

P.S. Are image tags disabled? I couldn't make an image post with html or bbcode. Weird.

My remix of Rammstein and Can't Touch This has set a high-water mark.

I made it with Acid.

Your guys' constructive criticism sucks. :)

I'll give a listen in a bit and give some real comments. If you're using Traktkor it can't be all that bad. Native Instruments makes some great shit.

The start is really sloppy, but youve got a great choice of songs in there, and I'm loving the mixes youve done in it.

One thing for me that would make it much more entertaining is try to throw in more base hitting beats. Alot of it is mostly trebble and bass would make it feel much more exciting.
Also, some of the trance/urban sections are way too long or become too repetetive. I can stand a somewhat consistent rythm for about 3 min. but when you only add a single beat every 2 min., it becomes way too much, so either cut down on those or add more beats.

Besides that, your mixing between songs later on in the mix is much smoother and transitioning between the genres of music is also good. Keep up with this thing and give us another update!

Thanks for the listens. After letting that mix sit for a while, I realize where I made mistakes. Honestly, I tried to do some more complex stuff in the beginning, and I overthought things. The latter half where I did simpler things and picked tracks on the fly rather than planning the mix things came out much better. Live, when not trying anything planned or super technical, all of my transitions are fluid and clean.

I'm thinking of doing another mix this weekend. If not then, then definitely next weekend. Also, as soon as I get my hands on ableton, Rob (the other guy working with me in "bangin dudes (not bangin dudes)" will begin our remix/production game. Even cooler, we've already secured two nights out in March filling in for my friend for his weekly residency while he goes off to Europe for the month.
