Hey guys,

I used to post on this site years ago, mostly around 2002-2003. I'm just starting to get back in to the handheld scene, as I realized I desperately need one in the college environment.

It looks like the handheld scene has died down quite a bit thanks to smartphones and blackberries. Many of the handheld websites and forums have died down quite a bit as well. Can anyone fill me in on what has been going on the past few years?

Thanks,
Alex

The short answer? A few OS releases, nothing revolutionary, devices are still pretty as much as powerful as they were 2-3 years ago.

Basically, a whole lotta nothing.

Pretty much what Sponge said. What has happened, and it's not immediately obvious, is just how much better Pocket PC Phone devices have become.

Compare one of the new HTC devices to one of just two years old and there's a vast improvement.
Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."

Damn. Well, I'm in the market for a new PDA though. My Toshiba e335 just can't cut it anymore. Any suggestions?

What David said. Your best bet nowadays is one with a phone built in.
