Forum language support

Forum language support

Postby Chris Edwards » Apr 13, 2002 @ 2:20am

Does anyone actually have it set to a language other than English? I'm questioning whether I should even worry about other languages with the forum upgrade being taken place in the near future...

After all, if they can't read english, how are they to read the forums? :)

One language I would like to see is Pekanese. These dogs are getting online more and more these days, researcing info at the Petco site for their less techno-informed canine buddies.

Oops, I mean, I don't see why anyone would miss alternative languages here. If you can read and make sense of the forums, you can certainly navigate your way around.

I didn't even know I could change language. I am polyglot (yeah I just HAD to use that word today, can't help it, sorry) and I can choose between Dutch and English, now it happens that my native language is Dutch, but I wouldn't really call it a choice... or did you already remove the other languages? :)

Funny you should mention that, a while ago I found out that google.com does support Klingon (or should I say "tlhIngan Hol"), pretty nifty:

Damnit it's not Dutch it's Deutsch!
But I think Shape even has it set to English. Those damned multi-lingual kids from other countries! Why don't they teach ME any languages?!

LOL, it's no longer "wazzzzzzah." It's "Wie gehts."
*chuckles to himself... no one else laughs. Lowers head in shame*

Okay, I'm a native speaker, and I'm definitely sure that something like...

...is NOT Deutsch, it's Dutch.

I do understand it (it's almost like Plattdeutsch, a German slang spoken by old people in small villages ) - but WHY can I actually choose it?

If you know English you don't need to learn any other languages. Where I come from they speak fries, but since only 9 people or so speak it, you learn Dutch at school. But since that really doesn't help either you also have to learn English, German and a bit French at school.

btw: "wazzzzzzah." in Dutch is "hoost" pronounce it a bit like a sneeze and you're the man 8)
