Senior Software Engineer – VOIP and Telephony
Location: San Francisco
A dynamic, fast-paced startup software company in the emerging IP Telephony (IPT) space, is looking for a top-notch senior software engineer to bring additional Voice Over IP and telephony expertise to its engineering team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Architect, design and implement Company internet telephony testing/management software products
• Design and implement core product components and modules that interact directly with telephony APIs
• Drive major design decisions of software architecture and functionality
• Investigate new technologies
• Write architecture, functional and design specification documents
• Perform code and design reviews
• Adhere to and foster design and coding standards for software development
• Work closely with SQA and other organizations in the company to educate staff and evaluate feature requirements and functionality
Job Requirements
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. Masters Degree a plus
• 5 years experience developing software in a structured setting
• Expert level knowledge of Java
• Excellent knowledge of VOIP, IP Telephony, networking concepts and protocols
• Experience with Telephony APIs such as TAPI, JTAPI and vendor specific products such as Cisco CallManager
• Excellent knowledge of XML including XSDs, XSLT, and XML parsers
• Excellent OO development skills, as demonstrated by having designed medium-large sized projects
• Experience with design patterns and distributed systems
• Experience developing enterprise software
• Experience with J2EE, web services and other distributed technologies
• Familiarity with modern agile development methodologies and practices
Experience with ‘real-time’ hardware or software systems a plus
• Strong technical background as a project lead and individual contributor
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• A high degree of self-motivation and flexibility
• The ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• The ability to interact creatively and achieve results in a dynamic small company environment

Compensation:
$100-$125K, stock options, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans in a casual but productive work environment.
