Linux and PPC

Alright, I've got another crazy-ass question. Anyone know anything about connectivity between PPC and Linux? As before, I've come upon a monster load of apps for using Palm stuff with Linux, but have seen nothing for PPC.<br><br>I imagine there's probably a heap of coding issues (which is surprising, considering just how cooperative and helpful MS is with the whole open source thing), but....?<br><br>Any suggestions would be grrreaat! (I had Frosted Flakes this morning. I couldn't help it.)<br><br>

Connectivity should be pretty simple. Using a serial cable, you should simply be able to create a PPP connection between the Big Linux box and the iPAQ. I know you can do it between WinCE and Linux, so it would be pretty stupid if a Linux-based handheld couldn't manage. I think there are instructions on pocketpchow2.com, or maybe pocketpcpassion.com. Somewhere, anyway. Do a little searching and you should find it.

I guess I phrased the question poorly, as I'm most interested in finding a way that, with WindowsCE (or the newer, MS-PPC OS that my iPAQ came with by default), I can connect to my linux box. <br><br>I would imagine that Linux connectivity would be inherent for Linux-based PDA's, but for Windows based PDA's?<br><br>Thanks for your help.

<br><br>Try this. The link is for Windows CE 2.11, but although Microsoft has hidden much of the TCP/IP functionality in CE 3.0 it's still there. The basic idea should be the same, and the legions of people who have managed to connect to the Internet through a cradle are a testament to its sound design. Or something like that. <grin><br><br>You will still need a serial cable or cradle, though. Getting this kind of thing to work with USB can be hell on Windows, on Linux I'm sure it'd be even worse.
