Infrared Linkage Between PPCs

A friend at school just got a Casio EM-500 and we tried IR linking ours, but it just kept saying "Establishing connection with [name]". Is there like, a way to really communicate between PPCs with IR ports? Like a chat or file sharing or gaming? Do we, or one of us, need some special software? I know of this one software, Peacekeeper, that let's PPCs and Palms communicate. We both have Casio EM-500s. Thanks.

Uhm,. there are some games you can play. There was a microsoft classic gaming pak which contained games that could use the ir port. there is also a chat utility at pocketg.com afaik...
