I am in a C++ class, and i started about a month ago, i've been thinking, and with the help of my teacher's knowledge im gonna make a pocket pc rpg of sorts. i already know VB and QB. i kinda have a basic idea right now, and im making a bunch of concept art before i start the engine so that i can decide how exactly i want it to look. I was thinking of using fully 3d characters, like varium, but using 2d backgrounds, ala final fantasy (snes). This way, i could achieve an acceptable level of fluidity on the animation of the characters over using sprites, but it will run very fast, due to the 2d backgrounds. I was thinking of using pocket divx somehow to even have some really killer cutscenes, but i'm not shure how to do this yet (pocket divx people, please get in touch with me
funkygymsocks@hotmail.com ). If i did this, i would make 2 different versions, one with cutscenes, and one without. what do you think? maybe i should just do sprites in my cutscenes to keep down the size? i am also toying with the idea of making it an open source project, for my sake, so that it can advance a lot faster, and i can focus a lot more on the story, gameplay, and graphics. what do you think? any suggestions or ideas? how about a name?
P.S. With summer break just around the corner, this could start to go along very quickly.
