The nose and the eye are the two vulnerable spots on a shark.
As a shark is coming at you to bite you it will charge, and as it opens its mouth its jaw will slip out of socket to open wide and the shark's eye will shut. When a shark's jaw is open its eye HAS to be shut anatomically. So it can't see when it's jaw is open, so you can move out of the way and poke its eye. It relies heavily on its eye when it's feeding. If it's swimming in circles close to you then hit it in the nose. And if there are sharks in the water NEVER swim with your hands. Keep your hands to your side and kick SMOOTHLY with your legs, otherwise it will think that you're a handicapped seal and easy bait.
And Mantarays, just don't step on them and they won't impale your foot or hand with a 3 inch long spike like one did to my cousin. He had a hole through his foot from one of those things. Nasty stuff. That was 10 years ago, the blood trail is still stained in the floor of the elevator of the condo. Shuffle your feet when you're walking in water, don't pick them up and stomp back down.
