More information

Postby drpaulmhine » Apr 14, 2002 @ 6:11pm

:D

An additional piece of information. When I get to VirtualDub, it also tells me that the Frame Rate is 29,976 (not 29,970). I'm assuming it is using that Frame Rate because that was the figure generated in DVD2AVI.
I hope this is normal ! :)

Very Close !!

Postby drpaulmhine » Apr 22, 2002 @ 12:37am

:D

Thanks to a girl called Rhonda (she sent me a direct email) I am getting closer.

She told me that in VirtualDub, under Video > Frame Rate, she sets "Change so video and audio durations match. THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME. I, therefore, kept it on "No Change". However, she also introduced me to Audio > Interleaving. By trial and error, I figured out that if I had the following settings ...

"Preload 0 ms of audio before video starts" (I erased the default of 500)

"Delay audio track by -101 ms" (I got the "delay" from the *.wav file that was originally created)

... then I got a preview and a file that was very near synchronization. There is still a little bit of non-synchronization but .. it is in the low millisecond range. If I can't come up with another button to set, I think I will live with this.

Thanks for your help Rhonda :)

Help

Postby NSXPERT » Apr 22, 2002 @ 4:44pm

First off thanks for the guide, I have successfully ripped a couple of my movies with great results, but I have had a lot of trouble with a few. Most notabliy, The Matrix and Top Gun. After I rip the VOB files and open DVD2AVI the screen is black. I can preview the movie and get the information like the frame rate, etc, but the screen stays black the entire time. Dose anybody have any idea what is wrong here? Thanks

My opinion is .. the PAL vs USA system [I don't know what the USA designation is] is throwing some "foulballs" into this area :)
