My dad hooked up a wireless network last night, but he didn't buy an access point for me, so I'll have to save up and get one at the end of the month.

How did he manage to set up a wireless network without a wireless access point. There can be no network without an access point.

He probably means a card, or he may be out of range of the router's signal, and he's saying his dad didn't buy an access point to boost the signal to where he is. Notice he said his dad didn't buy an access point for HIM, not that he didn't buy one period. Stop being so critical of little mistakes moose, ~we're not all perfect people like you.
