Newbie: Beiks Talking Dictionary

I need some help and I hope someone can help me.
New owner of a Be-300 cassiopea just starting to find out I may not have done the best choice for a PDA...but I am still trying to get it to work.
Will be traveling to Europe over the weekend and I just downloaded the French talking phrasebook from www.pocket-dictionaries.com; I managed to install it (having adopted my BE300 to use ActiveSync), but now I can't get sound.
Has anyone seen anything like this with other apps? Their dictionaries appear to work fine, only the sound in the phrasebooks is missing.
