Did you figure out a way to do this? Where in the registry did you find the ATADisk folder key. HKLM->Drivers->PCMCIA->ATADisk has no key folder for me. I do have HKLM->Drivers->SDDisk->Folder but changing the value does not stick. I'd like to be able to tell the diff between my cf and sd card. Changing the volume name with a reader did not work.
