Anything's possible given the right amount of emulation, but do you really want to play a game at 20spf?

The DreamCast had a 200Mhz SH-4. Not many PDA's had a SH-4 CPU. Anyway, the DreamCast had a 3d card which would have to be emulated even if you could get around the CPU and OS emulation, it would still be like running the games in software mode.

which, may i repeat, IS SLOW AS HELL.

:x All these threasd about "This system has a slower processer, can't you emulate it?" really piss me off. Its not the processor. It's the 3d and graphics software, and all the other cards the PPC doesn't have. They have to be emulated. Which is slow.

AND I REPEAT:

Console Games= Train
Pocket PC= Road
Console = Tracks
Wheels = Emulation

A train (console game) may run on a road (pocket pc) if you add wheels (emulation), but it wont go as fast as on the original tracks (console). The train (console game) runs fast, but its not that it's faster, just that it's built for the tracks (console).

Huh? That made no sense.

The point is that the GPU and all other hardware (a lot of it) has to be emulated. Current GPUs are real monsters and are extremely complicated... the ATI R300 and nvidia NV30 both have upwards of 110 million transistors, compare that with an Athlon's 38 or so and a P4's 55... not only that, but the instructions used are completely different too, so interpretation's pretty hard to do.

At 800*600, a P233MMX paired with a voodoo 2 is great for emulation. And I'm saying this through self-experience.

"Needs around a 1.5Ghz P4/Athlon, 256Mb RAM. My XP220, 256Mb & Ti4200 still has the occasional slowdown and pause and my P3-750 wont run anything playably at all."

Pardon my expression but.. that's just ridiculously exagerated.. You probably have some driver corruption and/or damaged hardware that stops you from having decent performance.

"And look at nVidia's GeForce FX. That was supposed to run a few loops around the Radeon 9700. It was slower in some cases.!

Where did you hear that? Everyone got pessimistic when it was announced that the GF-FX would have 128-bit DDR RAM instead of 256.

I just tried a Project64 with my AthlonXP 1800+ with 512Mb RAM and a R8500LE and I had more than 100fps in starfox.
