NEW TO POCKET PCs - Help me install stuff

I just got a PocketPC today, and I need help with a few things:

(1.) I downloaded a program for it that didn't have an installer. When I copied it to my PPC and tried to run it, it said it wouldn't work... is there a way to install files like that?

(2.) The PPC I got isn't exactly new. It came with Windows CE. Is there a way to update the ROM so that I can get 2002 on it?

(3.) Who the hell sells SD cards!?

Thank you in advance for your help.

1) What kind of file is it? If its a .cab file and it won't install it probably isn't the right type for your device.

2) AFAIK unless its an ARM based PPC, then no.

3) Try crucial.com or your local computer store.

All the ones I've downloaded so far have been for my processor (MIPS), and have been .exe files.

Try running them on your PC, they should install through Activesync.

They aren't self installing applications. An example of one of them is

neopocott-038b-MIPS.exe

When I double click the file it gives me this message:

neopocott-038b-MIPS.exe is not a valid Win32 Application.

So you have a WinCE2 PS/PC? In that case, it's not a PPC. Many PPC programs won't work on that, especially ones which rely on the GAPI library.

What sort of error do you get when you try to run the emulator on your PS/PC/PCC/whatever?

By the way, this sort of EXE should work without any problems. Under normal circumstances, all you have to do is sync/copy the file over and run it. You're having some other problems.

No... it's a WinCE3 from Casio, that and it actually says Pocket PC on the PPC itself.

The error I get varies from app to app... the one I mentioned before says:

"Cannot find 'neopocott-038b-MIPS' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available."

If it's says that it is not a valid Win32 Application, that means that it is not for Windows CE 3.0 (Pocket PC 2000) or Windows CE 3.1 (Pocket PC 2002), or it is not the correct binary for your processor (For Pocket PC and Handheld PC ARM, MIPS, SH3, SH4, and x86 for IBM compatible PCs). Your file is probably the wrong binary. Try double clicking the file on your Desktop PC (x86), if that does not work then copy the file through ActiveSync onto your Pocket PC or a installed storage card (Compact Flash (Type I or II), Multimedia, Secure Digital, or whatever your using for a storage card).
If the .exe still does not work after trying both of these things, then the file is mislabeled and is not for your x86 Desktop PC or your MIPS Pocket PC.

Also, what MIPS Pocket PC from Casio do you have? All Casio Pocket PCs have MIPS processors, except the E-200, which uses an ARM processor.

You DO have activesync installed, right?
Most installers use ActiveSync to install.
