possible to get an infrared gamepad working on pocket pc?

well, the buttons are fantastic, maybe perfect - yes - but i am afraid to simply break/destroy them by using them playing games for hours, snes games mostly where you have to press buttons QUICKLY etc..
are they sturdy enough for hardcore gaming??
