I dont know about the screen protectors, but I know a few things about microdrives. I think they use more battery power than normal cf cards. They are slower because they have to spin the disc around etc. Generaly speaking there not as hard wearing, due to the moving parts. Having said that, if there MUCH cheaper than a plain cf 1 gig card then go for it.
