Get the E805 hands down. Nothing, not even the current Asus can compare to the VGA screen on the E805. Sure it sucks for games but from what I can see internet and email were your major uses. The screen at 480x640 makes every other PPC that I own seem pathetic in comparison. Net surfing in landscape VGA beats anything other PPCs can offer, even Thunderhawk. Also the hacks to make use of VGA mode are free and very easy to implement.
The extended battery for the E805 doubles your battery life and fits well in the hand. I refuse to buy a PDA with the battery cannot be replaced. And forget the AA battery options. You spend $600 on PDA and resort to AA batteries to keep it going for extended usage? Something is wrong with that picture. Just my opinion.

Contrary to dario's comments, the VGA screen is far from perfection on a PDA. First of all, you need to have WIFI/Bluetooth/Modem in the immediate area to use the e800's strong point, which is websurfing. The buttons are impossible to game with. You can wait until the PDA market refines VGA, but until then, your best bet is with the Asus. Unless you plan to take a very long trip, away from power, and use your PDA a lot at the same time, you won't need replaceable batteries. I use my Axim constantly for emulation and schoolwork, with the backlight on low, and it lasts at least 3-4 days. The Asus can probably match that. There is an A620 review on this site, and the results are great. If anything, the A716 will have all the A620 delivered and more.

If it is not a problem of money, get both of them.
