Hi everyone, please feel free to check out the final beta release of my first Pocket PC game "Ducklets". Only Pocket PC 2002, 2003 are supported.

It's available to download from the website:

http://www.ducklets.com/
(Go to the download page and download the "Ducklets - Trial" for Pocket PC)

I have already posted this before in the developer's forum, so hopefully most of the technical bugs are out of the way now. However, I would really appreciate notification of bugs, and any feedback on gameplay. Thanks.

The website has instructions and game overview and it's probably a good idea to read the instructions first. Here are some screen shots:

Screenshots are too small. I can't tell much from them.

Thanks fast_rx for that. The latest PocketHAL apparently only updates parts of the screen that have changed - which is probably why the background always looks ok, and maybe it's just too fast now :)

I have just uploaded an updated version which waits for vsync which according to the documentation may slow it down a little, but I haven't noticed any difference on both my ipaq devices. Could you please give that one a go and see if it helps. I submitted a post asking Thierry what he thinks it could be also.

Its goooooooooood, very few controls, no hardware buttons are required, very easy to play on the PPC. Just Guessing why the Full Version is Free and the PPC version a paid one ???????????

fast_rx: I just uploaded an updated version to the site:

Could you please give it a go. I had been processing the WM_ERASEBKGND and WM_PAINT messages, but Thierry reckons they just should be ignored.

Thanks.

Just tried the latest... Sorry, but the problem is still there.

I was noticing that the start button flickers differently than the register and exit buttons. I assume that's because of the order you're drawing them.

The score in the game is also a lot worse than the rest. Is that the first thing you draw or the last?

The more I look at it, the more it looks like what would happen if you had a double buffer, but were displaying the back buffer instead of the front. I don't know if that helps you any or not, but maybe it will.
