Need help with A716 and warranty problems.

Hi All;

I am new to these forumns but you sure seem like the best PDA forumn out there.

Here is my problem.

I am in canada and bought an ASUS A716 in April. It has been mostly trouble free except for the odd freeze up. However I turned it on about 2 weeks ago and it would not activate, nothing, nada, zip.

I did a hard reset and that got the wireless light turned on but nothing else. I emailed ASUS tech support and was sent an 8 step list to follow (basically hard reset), I did this numerous times and it did not work. I replied to ASUS that it did not work and I wanted to get my A716 replaced under warranty.

They replied that I would have to contact the Netherlands for further help.

WTF

Did I miss something somewhere? No warranty or repair service on this continent???

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Please?
I am very confused about what to do next.
