Hi all I was planning on an X30 high end model for christmas and have bee researching all I could find. At another site they were running a list of all know bugs. Some scared me, one user was on his 4th replacement. How are people's experiences been here with it?

Do PDA makers do a new version of a model to address serious model problems...like X30 high with a designator to let me know it was a 1.0 release or 1.5 revision?

I am new to this and the Dell was going to be my first one due to price and features.

thanks in advance, Joe

I have an x30 and have had no problems with it. There are some issues with 2003SE compatibility with older software but those are becoming fewer and fewer.

I dont know about hardware rev, but the new X30s are shipping with A05 Rom. Mine originally came with A02. Not much difference except the new media player which is as useless as the old media player.

I am very happy with my x30. It runs morphgear great and runs most PPC software I use without a hitch.

My complaints are that the DPad is stiff and hard to use making a poor choice for emulating action games. Also, it only has 64MB of ram which is plently.. but for me personally I would like more so I could hold more email in memory. Chances are, you will not be bothered by this cieling.

I have had some issues with my SD card, but that is related to some hacks I used to relocate my ie cache, I think, and unrelated to the x30 in particular.

Its a great unit, but make sure you hold out ot get 10-15% off as often happens at Dell.

Regards,

Artuk
