I Gave Back My iPAQ!

I'm probably just needlessly stirring stuff up with this post but I'll be interested to read folks responses . . .

I bought an iPAQ 3635 back on April 10th and have used it a ton since then. I returned it today and got a full refund ($599.99) from Sears. Here's why:

1. In spite of the fact that this puppy was in the 4G13 serial number series, I accumulated a slug of dust over the last month and a half.

2. The slipcover stitching came undone along the top and was getting worse by the day.

3. Although this may be more of a problem with my computer than with the iPAQ, I was unable to use the "Explore" feature from my computer desktop. That meant I couldn't transfer stuff from my desktop computer to my CF storage card.

I had a few other minor complaints as well: It just seems so bulky and awkward to hold, the battery life sucks and even though it can run the fastest games out there, games like Quake were more awkward to play than I would have liked.

BUT I learned to LOVE Pocket PC and will never go back to a Palm. The problem now is what to get to replace it and I have settled on an HP Jornada 548. I KNOW I will be giving up speed, a better screen display and some other goodies (such as better game availability for the iPAQ) but for $399.99 (including a Targus Stowaway Keyboard) I think I will more than make up for what I am losing.

And, if it doesn't work out, I'll be back to buy another iPAQ. We'll see. (I'll keep you posted!)

Peter

He obviously knows all about the PocketPC wars, much a kin to the Linux distro wars. And he has chosen wisely. (Indiana Jones is kick ass). The Jornadas are great. 12 times better than a Palm, but then again the iPaq is twice as good as a Jornada. But you know all of that.

My first PocketPC was a Jornada 545.

It's an awesome machine compared to a Plam, that's for sure.

Yes, I break out my dictionary, thesarus, and looking glass each time my eyes are lucky enough to view your latest written masterpiece. I study each pixel, and carefully log it into my Journale de Sonne. Afterwhich, I give a presentation to a study group at Dartmouth University.

The session is called "Sonne of God, the vessel through which God Speaks", and rumor has it, they will be offering it next semester as a real class. Since I lack teaching credentials, one of my understudies will assume the role.~

That's nice. It's too bad that understudy won't get to teach the class due to your sarcasm on that last sentence.
