Warranty

Damn it sucks that the warranty on a iPaq would run out if I would use another CF card than Compaqs own (overpriced) cards :( Is there any risk with using a Sandisk 64 Meg card instead and will I need the warranty to clean it (dust under screen) or something?

is that serious?!? geez, thats some monopoly they got there. but how many people will care about the warranty, most of you have overclocked your ipaq anyway

Well, at the local 'puter store they said that the warranty runs out if I put another CF card than Compaqs in it...but they also said that they "could" just forget that I have put it in there :)
And I guess I'll need a 64 meg card if I want to put moviez and mp3z on the iPaq.
I can only afford a 64 meg sandisk CF, cuz over here the 128 is more than double the price of a 64 meg one (..and I don't think I will buy from pricewatch when I live in Finland)
. And I guess I can fit a movie like South Park or some tv episodes on a 64 meg card :)
And ur right, how could they now if I'm using the card in the iPaq and why would Compaq have that CF card compatibility list on their site if I shouldn't use the other card in it?

And they didn't mention the extended warranty and admitted that Compaqs cards are very expensive (3*price of sandisk 64mb=compaq 64 mb).

So I guess I'll go for the Sandisk card anyway.

Yeah how the hell are they gonna know anyways. I think i'm gonna pick me up a 128 off priceline. My opinion is anything Compaq needs to be destroyed i hate compaq. Their PC's are $hit and couldn't hold a candle to a custom built.

No they have not fixed the dust problem yet. They have "bettered" it i guess. Second how the hell will they know what kind o cf card you use. This seams like an impossible thing to find out. Plus i just read my warranty book from compaq it doesnt say anything about using compaq cf cards only. I think the sales guy is lying.
