why would you use medium? Your battery life must SUCK... But anyway, welcome to Pocket Matrix, ask questions and we will answer 'em. Actually, I won't but the ones with the answers will.

Well, when plugged into the power adaptor or the HUB the PPCs usually go to full bright, because it's not using battery power. So you may be plugging it in, causing it to go to full bright.

But if you just hold down the action button (the rolly wheel on the side, push it inwards) and press left or right on the D-Pad it will change the brightness without having to go into the settings menu. That's what I do, as I need to change the brightness on my Casio a lot depending on the task. If it's just games I keep it dark to conserve power. If I'm reading an eBook to inputting data it's usually near full bright, since the speaker and CPU aren't fulling active to run the battery down.

Moose, I don't think that's going to work with an iPAQ. I'm not sure, since I'm on the monochrome, but I don't think it's the same concept.

Seriously, though, isn't there a way to turn off the automatic brightness detection? Check in the backlight settings under the control panel. I'm sure that the color models had a setting there where you could toggle the auto-adjust.
