I just read the WHOLE review. I think that is a first- normally I get halfway through and say "what a crock!"

I may be buying another Pocket PC soon, and I've been eyeballin' the @migo for quite some time. Do you happen to know it's availability? It's not difficult to get ahold of like the iPAQ was, is it?

I am 99% sure that you can get one right now without a problem. I think URThere.com has then for $600 and another page has them for $550. I cant seem to think of the name of that "other page", I will post it when it comes to me though. And thanks for the kind words Randall.

You can order it online with UPS NextDay at .
That's where I got mine as soon as they offered it and it came the very next day.
I am very glad because when my good ole Casio died on me I needed SOMETHING to PIM with.

quick question, you can't watch a movie and play pq at once, unles you have some kind of super ppc. And i like the reeview it was very good and too the point. No biased opinions either. Good job matt.

Comments? Ok.
Hahaha, Matt, you made a mark on the back of your @migo. Hahaha. I know, thats not really that funny. My case never made a mark on the back. I would hope it won't do so in the future.

As for Jimmy's Overclocking Utility...here's all I have to say to that...Be careful. Make sure you have plenty of Program Memory free whenever running any program or playing a movie, etc. Because if the system eats up all the available RAM and you are overclocked to 236...prepare for a forced hard reset right before your eyes.
This happened to me while playing a movie by itself and later on while playing PQ (just PQ by itself not along with a movie playing). This did not occur when I did not overclock, and this did not occur when I freed up plenty of memory (i.e. over 10MB).

Hmm. I will have to look into some Flash type PC Cards Matt. That interests me much.

[Edit: As if that wasn't already obvious ~~~~!!]

Last modification: JongJungBu - 07/06/01 at 23:44:57

Im curious, what did you guys think of the video at the end of the review? Did it give you a better idea of what the @migo looked like? or did you just think it was lame? Be honest cause I was thinking of doing this for all future hardware reviews.

Ya, it gave me a better idea of how it looked. I always thought that the @migos were kind of bloated and fat, but next to your fat thumbs I thought the PPC was really quite small. Maybe I'll sell my Casio and get an @migo, and entirely because of that video on the end.

(Just kidding about the fat thumbs and selling my casio.)

*note from matt
I would just like to mention that the video adds ten pounds.:)

Last modification: Matt Keys - 07/07/01 at 10:06:28

I thought the video was great. I mean, I already have the @migo but I watched it anyway. Was very professional and showed everything but you actually turning it on. Also, I think you may be my hand twin.
I like the review. One note, the @migo supports 16 bit color, which is 65,536 colors. The iPaq is 12 bit, which is only 4,096 (you state 12,000).

Dan East

I do have another comment, believe it or not~.

I think Dale Coffing said he believed the opening on one side of the case is so that you could have some PCMCIA device still attached to it (AirCard?? NIC?) while in the case so that u wouldnt have to remove it. Matt says he believes its for being able to USB Sync while in the case. Who's right..ya got me...but they seem to fit nicely either way. This is...assumming that the PC Card accessory you have happens to stick out only on 3/4 of one side of the slot. So you could just flip it around if it doesnt fit in one way.

I saw on your screenshots, Matt, the way you put your @migo in the case and now I've realized why I don't have a mark on mine. I always put mine in with the screen facing the magnetic closures. Those metal clasps never touch the screen since its indented and thus..no mark.
I wonder, is magnetism bad for LCD?

BTW, thanks for mentioning PQ several times in your review! :)
Palmax was very smart to make the @migo as close to the iPaq as possible, especially regarding the display properties. You can imagine if none of the iPaq's games would run on the @migo. The @migo would not be nearly as popular (at least it would be much harder to break into the market), and it would be a real headache for programmers.

Dan East

Wow thanks for catching that Dan, I proof-read that review so many times but it still slipped past me. Ill have to go fix that, and thanks everyone for you compliments.

JJB, I think I put mine in the case the "intended" way. I believe that because the way I put it in the buttons are accessable from the case's opening. I took me a couple funny looks when I first got the @migo to figure out which way it should go in.:)

I have a Q.

Does the @migo synch with a cable instead of a cradle? It looks like it from the pictures.

I hate my freakin' cradle. It isn't very compact and doesn't fit into my laptop bag very well.

Also "hiccup" is spelled... well like that, instead of hick-up.
