Old PocketPC's outdated already?

I have a Compaq Aero 2130 upgraded to Pocket PC, it is working great for me. Now I would like to add some features to it i.e. connecting it to my wireless home LAN. I have a difficult time to find accessories that are supported by my Aero. Is it time to buy a new PocketPC or does anybody out there have any ideas or suggestions on how to make my older device work with new technology/accessories?

now is not a good time to buy a pocket pc IMO... If i were you, i would wait until after christmas when the 3rd gen pocket pc's come out: faster, new OS, etc...

That's all i have to add to this discussion -- sorry i don't have more.

I think they'll come out only in 2002 (2nd quarter at least). To buy a PPC now (even the new HP 560 series) isn't a smart move. If you're desperate, ok, but if you can wait for the next generation just hold on. It'll be awsome.

Then there is me, who buys a new PPC evertime one comes out. But that is another story.

On the whole Wireless thing, I gotta say I don't know what to do. For me, I have a network drop in every room, so I don't really NEED a wireless card, per se. However, it'd be sweet for, say, surfing while in the bathroom.

The problem REALLY is CF support for it. Even the frickin' HP isn't CF Type II compatible out of the box...which sucks.

ITGuy, you should post those links you found...maybe they will be useful in this thread.

hmmph...ok I guess that'll work.

Ya know, when (if?) you get it up and working, you should post so we know. I am curious to hear the results of someone who actually did it. There's no WAY its gonna be simple, like plug it in and wammo it works. So, I'm interested in the snags.

RICoder, it works for me the same way. But getting it to work is the most fun. I am just working on getting my hands on one of the cards. I keep you posted.

Cool, looking forward to it.

I enjoy the 'getting it to work' part too.

Right now I am trying to figure out what the hell is making my machine run like a pig. I have a G200pci card and a GForce agp in it. I got both monitors to work, but it runs like SHEET! Why?

What a fun weekend this is going to be.
