I don't have it yet, but I'v pretty much decided that I want the IPAQ 3835, Im definetly getting it within the next month though.

Anyway, I am already thinking about expanding it. I want to get a CF card to connect it to my cell to surf the web (and the CF add-on pack of-course).

So, I cant decide if I want to buy a 128mb stick for the SD slot, or get a 1gig microdrive.
I'v heard the microdrive is fragile and power sucking, so right now Im leaning toward the SD card.

Do you really need a gig for a PPC sence you can trade programs out though your PC? Or have you needed the 1gig? What do you people think?

If you want to watch movies, or have tons of MP3 or lots of general stuff, the more mem you can get the merrier. The biggest problem with microdrives (IMHO) is the power drainage. For memory I would go CF or SD. But if you need humongous space, then the md is for you.

the power drainage aint that bad, i still get a good days use out of my ppc before it dies. and yes, i use almost all of that 1GB of memory, because I can ;)

What exactly do you mean by "humongous space"?

I think I will be fine if I can fit a movie or two and a few (like 30 max, probably only 20 though).

Also I dont like the Idea of switching out the two CF cards Id have.

A movie uses 200MB easily, so if you plan to have one or two installed plus 20-30 MP3, you will need "humongous space". I have a 128MB CF and with only 3 or 4 short movies (15min/15-20MB) and games and other stuff it's already filled.

also keep in mind the new ipaq can't run much of the software the 3600's could, as they would have to be reported for the new WinCE 2002 and many have not done this.

But I think it will just be a matter of time before patches start coming out.

how the hell can a divx film for 320x240 (or less?) take up 200mb?!? i've got a prefectly fine enterprise ep at 35mb... so, uh... what was my point?

well, as long as he only watches tv shows its okay. i think thats it.

I get enterprise episodes ( 40-50 min without commercials ) at 25MB that are not 320x240, but are still bi enough to get the full effect. Any other tv episodes ( 20-30 min without commercials ) should easily be 12-15MB. Full length movies run from 50-90MB, so you could get 1 full length movie, 1 'hour' tv show, and one '30 min' tv show in a 128MB CF card. Granted that's not DVD quality...
