I always thought this was dumb but i wanna write a program to admin my works SQL server on my ppc and there for need to be online to access my work. The reason for this is im going to get wireless soon like one of thoughs air cards so i wont have to be at my cradle later.

Download AnalogX proxy server for your desktop.. install it.. and set the proxy server on your ipaq to the ip of your desktop (try 192.168.1.1).. make sure you set the port in the proxy settings on your ipaq to 6588.

A proxy wont work unless i can set specific services on their ports like SQL. Kind of like a NAT equivalent. Plus i am behind a router that wont cause problems with a proxy will it?

Ok my local ip is 192.168.0.202 wich is what i set pie's proxy server ip to on port 6588, and evertime i try to visit a site it says web page not found. I am using anlogX proxy on my machine wich recives its ip from my router (Its assigned dhcp but its teally static). Also my cradle is usb if that matter. Any ideas Chris, anyone?

To test the proxy, set IE on your desktop machine (that is running AnalogX's proxy) to use proxy 127.0.0.1, port 6588. If that works, then the 192.168.0.202 is not the correct IP address for your PC, or you aren't establishing TCP/IP over the USB.<br><br>Dan East

Hey Dan, i did set ie's proxy to my loop back with analogX running and it worked :). So that means it must be tcp/ip is not set up over my usb but i have no idea how to do this, do you think you can give me a run down or a link to somewhere that will show me how to set it up?

Either that or you're using the wrong IP address. I don't use USB (I have the luxury of ethernet and WiFi :) ), so I don't have direct experience with that. I believe you have to modify the registry on your Pocket PC, and create a new dial-up entry for USB that has TCP/IP enabled. A link to the instructions were posted in these forums several months ago, but it is buried tens of thousands of posts back by now. :( You might can find it with a search if you're lucky.<br><br>Dan East
